Where on (Google)Earth #1?

Okay...here's an idea. Every once in a while I'm going to grab an image of somewhere on this planet using GoogleEarth. It's up to the readers to determine or guess where it is. It will usually, although maybe not always, be a natural feature of the Earth that is highlighted. Sometimes I might be zoomed in, other times it'll be a wide shot. Sometimes it might have something to do with an area or phenomenon discussed in the news...sometimes not.

If you can't tell me exactly where it is...then tell me something about the natural feature that is shown.

If you get it right....well, that's it, you get it right....i'm not gonna give you a prize or anything. Who do you think I am?

Check out this blog for a similar GoogleEarth type of thing in quiz form.

The first image might be easy for some....

Point Reyes National Seashore, that's Tomales Bay running through the center, which is also the location of the San Andreas fault. The northern tip of Pt. Reyes is the northernmost exposure of Sierran granitoids translated northwards by the San Andreas fault. It was also the epicenter for the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and is an excellent place to see migratory birds (only place in California I have ever seen Common Loons). I think I deserve an ...Or Something t-shirt.

that was fast...I'll have to have an '...Or Something' logo contest before I can give you a t-shirt

I think just a big picture of you on a t-shirt would work fine

hi
Today I downloaded Google Earth 4 (14.2 MB) and saw chicago city through this. It was a amazing experience, which is very difficult to express in words. It seemed as if I am watching Places from top, sitting in a chopper. All I would like to say that everyone must see this software at least once. google earth
